What is Cloaking?
In the simplest of terms, cloaking is an SEO technique whereby the content displayed for the Search Engine Crawlers is different from the one shown to typical website visitors.
Essentially, cloaking is meant to trick search engine bots into awarding sites a higher ranking in the SERPs. For the most part, these sites display a server-side script to the crawlers. The content seen by the bots is entirely absent and/or different from the actual site.
So, in a word, Black Hat SEO hinges on cloaking. Needless to say, cloaking is highly illegal and your site may be permanently banned from appearing on any search indexes.
Now, we have defined cloaking and unfortunately, the definition is all bad news. You may not be into Black Hat SEO. So, would you still need a cloaking service?
Well, the answer is yes. As earlier stated, there is much more to cloaking than the superficial definition. Keep reading our TrafficShield Review and you’ll find out why pretty soon.
Is There Good and Bad Cloaking?
I have just introduced you to bad cloaking. However, there are other practices that could be considered as cloaking but are very necessary for you as an affiliate marketer.
For one, if your content is predominantly Images, Videos, or Adobe Flash components, search engine crawlers are not kind to you. In actuality, the bots can’t read these components.
Two, if your content ends up being less than your HTML tags. I mean, in some cases, you just don’t need a lot of content. However, as long as your Test to HTML ratio is low, you will never rank.
The bottom line is your content won’t be sufficient. Consequently, you will never reach the threshold of keyword concentration, meta tags, titles, and all the other SEO components crucial to web crawlers. Then, your page will rank poorly.
In these cases, you need cloaking services.
So, which is the best cloaking service in the biz? Well, let me introduce you to TrafficShield!
What is TrafficShield?
TrafficShield is a software that allows you to cloak your webpages while simultaneously blocking bots and bad traffic.
As a result, you can advertise blackhat niches such as dating, health, and gambling on popular platforms such as Facebook, Snapchat, and Google among others.
How Does TrafficShield Work?
In a nutshell, TrafficShield seeks to conceal your footprints so that any bots, moderators, or admins only see the safe page. Meanwhile, other page users will see your money page.
To accomplish this, TrafficShield uses four cloaking methods.
- WordPress integration with Adapted plugins
- PHP integration
Which features does our TrafficShield Review have in store? Let’s find out.
As you may have noticed, there is not much information online about TrafficShield. Therefore, the best way to explain how TrafficShield works is to show you a step by step breakdown.
Step 1: Create Account
Begin by creating a TrafficShield account. As you can see, all that is required is simply your basic information plus your billing information.
Carefully, fill in all the required details and then click on Register.
After your account is confirmed, you can now Log In
Step 2: Campaigns Homepage
The moment you login, this is the page you will see.
Typically, this is the page that displays all your current campaigns. Since we don’t have any campaigns yet, there are none showing.
Still, from the page, you will be able to see:
- All Active Campaign Caps
- Monthly Clicks Caps
Step 3: Create Campaign
To create a new campaign, begin by clicking on the Create Campaign Button as highlighted in the image.
You will be directed to a new page.
Basically, this page displays the simplest cloaking procedure you will ever see anywhere.
Start by creating a Campaign Name. Next, fill in the Ad Network you would like to work with. Options include:
- Facebook Ads
- Google AdWords
- Google SEO
- Lead Impact
- No Rules
- Pop Ads
- Pinterest Ads
After that, enter your Money Page URL. Just to clarify, the Money Page is the page that you want your audience to see. Below the Money Page URL, you can choose to activate a Custom Mobile Money Page. This is optional.
Next, enter your Safe Page URL. Essentially, this is the page you want crawlers to see. It is your cloaking page.
And finally, specify your Campaign Status. You have three options.
This means that it’s all systems go. In other words, your Ad is up and running and all your visitors are well categorized into the “safe” and “money page” categories.
2) Under Review Status
The Under Review status implies that your Ad has been posted but is yet to be approved. As a result, all your visitors, “safe” and “money page” alike will be directed to the safe page, that is, until the Ad is approved.
3) Money Page Status
This option redirects all the visitors to the money page.
At this point, you can choose to Create the Campaign as is. However, you may miss out on some great advanced configurations as seen below.
Step 4: Advanced Configurations
In a nutshell, TrafficShield’s advanced configurations consist of filters bound on making your campaigns more effective.
1) Block Empty HTTP Referer
This is an infinitely cool feature that sniffs out visitors with an empty referer and sends them to the safe page. According to TrafficShield, it is imperative that you enable this feature. Particularly if you deal with Facebook and Google Ads.
2) Block VPN/Proxies/Bots
With this feature, you can block any users coming through VPNs or Proxies as well as the good ol’ bots. While at it, you can choose to enable SEO bots. Again, this feature is optional.
3) Allow/Block Countries
The moment you click on Blocked Countries a list of countries will appear (as seen in the image). Now, all you have to do is click the countries you want to use for your campaign.
Consequently, the box on the left will have all the “Blocked Countries” while the box on the right will show all the “Allowed Countries”.
4) Automatically activate campaign after x visits
Set a number of minimum visits before activating the campaign. When visits reach the number indicated in the box, then the campaign will automatically go Live.
5) Blocked IPs
In case you have a custom IP blacklist, simply enter the URL into the provided box. All visits from that URL will always see the Safe Page.
6) Filter Mobile and Desktop
In the event that you want your Ad to only show on Desktop and not Mobile or vice versa, select your preferred device. If you have no problem with either then select both options.
Step 5: Create the Campaign
This is the final step in the campaign creation process. Click on the red button and you are all done.
Ultimately, your Campaigns Homepage will look something like this.
This is how your active campaigns will be displayed. You will be able to see your campaign details including:
- Campaign Name
- Ad Network
- Total Page Views
- Percentage of traffic directed to the safe page
You can also edit, change status, or delete any campaign from the same page.
